Tools.

No, not these tools. The more that I engage in my program, the more that I become mildly obsessed with the tools of the bookbinder's trade. Luckily, we have started in on tool modification in my book and paper labs, making paring knives out of hack-saw blades, and lifting knives out of paring knives. Still, I am always on the look out for more.
Yesterday, someone asked our professor how much her triangle was. (At this point you may be asking yourself, is there some sort of specialized tool in bookbinding that was mysteriously named a "triangle"? Nope. Its the same type of triangle that you used in art class or geometry only its machined to tolerances.) It costs $43.50. A set of three angle plates? $53.95. And these are just the tools for measuring and marking.I'm not quite sure what I expected, bookbinding is a 2000 year old craft. That is plenty of time to invent a $525 set of miniature (useless toy) bookbinding tools and a $900 brush. I guess with a birthday coming up, I had better start making a list so that my parents don't unload any more sweaters on me.

one of those guys looks a lot like a certain person we spent New Years Eve with (and I'm not talking about Horatio Sans)

for the record, I think there's one of those $900 brushes in the paperlab hanging over the sink.
