To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf
2.15.2011
We've already covered the fact that I have the limited literary exposure of a well-read prep-schooler, so perhaps I simply cannot appreciate the transformative impact of Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse. Today, authors have few limits on the subjects that they discuss or the inner monologues that they explore, and perhaps this was an early work to break that ground, but it doesn't make it a great book. The themes are simplistic and unengaging.
Consider this an open thread for someone to convince me of the greatness (MLA's #15) of this novel.
*** Fine, but there are better reads.
